I was reading through the upgrade instructions and I do all the same things however I do one thing differently, it works, but I am just wondering if I should be doing it another way.

When I get to Number 3

3. Overwrite your old Ubercart folder with the new module folders. This will ensure you don't miss an update. We'll let you know if a module gets moved that would require you to remove a previous directory manually.

I really just delete the old directory, and upload the new directory via FTP. Is that wrong? Should I be overwriting the folder? The only reason overwriting doesn't make sense is if there are files that are not used anymore. Then you have extra files/folders that are obsolete right?

Not a big deal, what I do works so I can not complain, just looking for clarity!

Re: How to upgrade Ubercart to a newer version

What you're doing is fine as long as you don't have any custom invoice templates or country files and haven't put any modules in the contrib folder. Simply overwriting protects against losing anything in there... but you're right, we have removed stuff from core that this won't cover. We'll be careful to mention in release notes when a folder just needs to be tossed from now on. Smiling
