I'm still trying to figure out how to charge shipping for an Australian Ubercart store. My first thought was to charge Australian deliveries a fixed shipping rate but if the delivery was outside Australia, the customer could still purchase a product but would have to contact us to arrange/pay for shipping. I couldn't get that to work with the flat rate module because when the delivery address was not australia it could not return a shipping quote. What other ways could i handle shipping? I guess one option is to only allow Australian residents to make purchases online.

Are there any other people who have completed an Australian ubercart store and that ship products internationally? If so, how did you handle shipping?

With flatrate and workflow, you can sell all over the world.

Just create a flatrate price, and add some conditions in the workflow for example : country delivery address of the customer = any country.

If you want to sell all over the world, you will have to create a lot of rules (I was in the same case, I take 2 full day to add rules one by one), but it works ^^

+1 to zmove's comments... you just need to make a second flat rate shipping method with conditions on its workflow-ng configuration so that it only gets quoted when the shipping country is int'l. Maybe title it "Int'l Shipping, Contact to Arrange and Pay" and set it to a $0 flat rate. Or call it something simpler and put a description elsewhere on the page/site letting your customers know that that's how it works.

It calculates perfectly it seems...
