Not sure if this is the right space for this question, but where are you all hosting your UC sites? I'm not anticipating my site to have huge amounts of traffic, I'm looking into some of (what I think are) the usual suspects - Dreamhost, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. Any advice is appreciated.
Where are you hosting?

Well problem with all those hosts is they are WAY oversold and not just by a little. Now almost every host will over sell but some play the price/bandwidth/space game way above acceptable levels. Read their TOS and AUP and you'll see the real restrictions.
This is why one day I ended up getting my own dedicated server for my sites which eventually turned into a small local web hosting business.
What is your budget?

$100 for the year, plus or minus.
Drupal depends a lot on CPU and database server location, Ubercart depends on Drupal. That said, I'm hosting my pre-public site on a Dreamhost's shared account.
Dreamhost defenately is not optimized for Drupal when it comes down to performance. Plus, I'm located in Europe, so speed is really an issue.
I was tempted to join DrupalValueHosting, but I'm far from sureness yet...
Definitely not in $100 annual budget, but I've found shared servers too "performance-risky" for certain types of sites. I've been running my sites on dedicated servers for last few years, and have good experience of both Servstra and Axishost (both of them offer a full managed options for reasonable prices, including great support. Recommended)
2 cents from Sunny Spain...
Best Hosting Package 1000GB Space, 9000GB Transfer, (+ 1 Domain Free)
That right there will tell you that they are pushing the limits of overselling bandwidth wise. Offers like this do a disservice to the customer where eventfully the customer think he/she can get hosting plan that cost 1/20th of what a dedicated server would cost with half as much bandwidth.
Check out CartikaHosting
Or Axishost as stated above.
I have this rule of thumb when looking for new hosting.
I don't get hosting from companies that:
1. Have unlimited everything (or really high bandwidth/file space.)
2. Use stock images of cute people wearing those telephone headsets.
The truth is, 'unlimited' means "we'll promise you the world then take it away if your site gets too popular." They put restrictions on CPU usage (which is understandable on a shared host - it's usually 15-20%) and some will limit the number of files you have stored on your account (nodes, some have limits in the 25,000 -50,000 range (site5, anyone?) and it may not seem like much, but if you use your site for a lot of images, they can add up.)
Finding good hosting is a crap shoot. The big guys aren't always the best, and the little guys may not be here next year.
As you get recommendations, do the "if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" test on the offers. I usually use WebHosting Talk to look into hosts (and for special deals hosts offer). Check the providers terms and conditions and see if you can determine how long they've been in business.
And you can get decent shared hosting for around $10/month.
~silverwing - and for the record I'm currently with eleven2 but my sites seem a bit sluggish with them...
