Hi,

I'm completely new to Drupal/Ubercart and I need a bit of help getting my affiliate program running. I've already installed Drupal, Ubercart, and the uc_affiliate module. Now, I have no idea where to go from here in order to get my affiliate program running via uc_affiliate.

I've already read and re-read the "How are people doing Affilate Stuff with Ubercart" post as well as the comments on the uc_affiliate module download page, so please don't refer me back to either of those because the info there did not answer any of my questions.

Is there anyone who can give me step-by-step info on what I need to do with the uc_affiliate module to get my affiliate program set up like the ipodfitnesscenter affiliate program (with the affiliate login, a page for affiliates to view their progress, etc)? Please feel free to email me at andrea@andrealogos.com if you'd like.

Thanks,
Andrea

PS. As I said, I'm new to the "open source CMS/software world;" so is it normal for all of these great applications to exist with little to no help and tutorials on how to use them? I've had to scrap and scrape and throughly SEARCH for any tutorials or info on help I've needed with Drupal, and there's very little straight-forward help on using other open source software-- am I SUPPOSED to have to learn all of this on my own and by blatantly asking others for help as opposed to there already being tutorials? Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissed...I just think this "world" is so mysterious and interesting...just a thought!

Computers can be frustrating at any level of skill. People often offer advice for free in opensource software forums. The best thing to do is to be patient and appreciate the advice you do get or pay somebody to do it for you.

I wish I could offer you some advice on the affiliate module but I haven't used it yet. I'm going to be trying it out over the next couple of weeks. If I discover how to use it easily I'll let you know.

Nice logos by the way.

Re: URGENTLY NEED uc_affiliate HELP!

Well Andrea, welcome to the bleeding edge of technology. Drupal isn't all that new (but relatively speaking v6 and even v5 are), but ubercart is brand spanking new and you're just not going to find as much free information outside of ubercart.org. If you aren't willing to pay up-front for support, then you're going to have to get your hands dirty with the rest of us. You could, of course, go with a seasoned solution like osCommerce, but I have a feeling you'll be left utterly unsatisfied with the final product.

I'm somewhat surprised that you've had problems finding Drupal support/documentation since it's such a popular CMS. Regardless, you'll get the hang of it eventually. Good Luck.
