One Shopping cart - like

I've now been using ubercart for a good 6 months and like it. I still need to get a few shipping details ironed out and full integration with my merchant (I'm currently using PP and I'd say about 40% of prospects don't want to use PP).

Ubercart has many parts to maintain, and I have many different website on which I sell product. Maintaining an up-to-date UC on multiple website is frankly too laborious.

My desire is to setup UC (maybe on a stand along "payment site" for me only) and have all purchases from my multiple sites go through this one payment site.

On the surface it seems quite do-able, especially using Configurable Content Links.

My question is, am I missing something that would be a show stopper here?

Any suggestions on making this solid?

We've thought about doing a similar thing on our own sites. The main thing that we have come up against is that the themes don't carry over. Your customers might suddenly wonder why they are at a different site buying stuff. If that's not really a concern, then cart links should work pretty well. Your payment site will need the entire product lines of all your sites, I think, but that doesn't mean the customers should necessarily see them.

The theme thing is something that has also concerned me in doing this.

My thought is to either have a very generic theme for the payment site or I thought there might be a module out there that can do theme switching. I believe there is one that will let the theme change by user, but I don't know if there is a way to have a specific them show up dependent on the referring URL.

At the very least it would be nice to have the banner area "themed" to the appropriate referring site.

I figured on putting all of the products on that one site.

I'm just finding it difficult to keep up. Some of my sites only have 1 product, and it seems like a ton of overhead for that, hence the desire to consolidate.
