I would like to investigate the possibility of interfacing ubercart with 1shoppingcart, but so far I cannot find any reference to anyone trying this.

Feedback welcome!!

Integration between the two

But why do you wanna interface ubercart with 1sp these are different carts operating separately on different servers and each of them is complete in itself.
However still if you wish do interface them then probably you will have to do this interaction work at your server only. Let me see if could find some script for the same.

Sorry but I did not quite get it... Ubercart is a fantastic chopping cart module for Drupal, and you can extend the functionality with a huge number of other modules. I don't know 1shoppingcart but what could be a reason to integrate it with Drupal / Ubercart? ...just curious.

Good question-answer

1ShoppingCart is an online ecommerce service that is very much like ubercart. In fact, the ubercart developers call their module "1shoppingcart-like."

However, there are a few CRITICAL features that 1shoppingcart possesses that I don't think ubercart executes nearly as well. (however, as an ubercart newbie, I'd love to be corrected!) Those are:

1) Affiliate program. 1ShoppingCart has a very easy but sophisticated way for affiliates to sign up. 1ShoppingCart will track affiliates and automatically pay them when affiliate fees are due.

2) Autoresponders. 1ShoppingCart has a very robust autoresponder program that will send out emails or content on a regular basis, based on a certain number of days from customer signup.

These two features are just about required for our purposes. What we would like to do is use ubercart for all membership and inventory purposes within Drupal, and then route the credit card processing to 1ShoppingCart so we can use their autoresponder and affiliate system.

NOTE: I'm just beginning to learn ubercart's features. If anyone knows how these two features could be executed directly from ubercart, I'm all ears!!

Re: Good question-answer

Thanks for clarifying. Yes, these affiliate- and autoresponder- features are essential from business point of view. I've not yet taken any intensive look at the available modules for Drupal / Ubercart, but at least there are something available:

You can also use "userpoints" -family of modules to credit your affiliates by several ways. If you need a full featured affiliate solution, I'm afraid you need to look at an external script or service for both autoresponders&mailings and affiliate handling.

I've personally been using "PostAffiliatePro" for several years on a busy site with a reasonable success to handle an affiliate network. The developers are at the moment aware about Drupal and I'm hoping there will be some kind of integration with Drupal in their "soon to be available" 4.X -version of the script.

On autoresponders I have found "ARP3" to be a great stand alone script. If you prefer a service, both "Aweber" and "GetResponse" are great (both of them have more or less similar features and pricing, but only GR is supporting multilingual content)

Good luck and welcome to Drupal & Ubercart!

Hmmm

Abilnet,

Thanks for your detailed response! Yes, with a little work, I think I could possibly reproduce the autoresponder function with Drupal modules.

However, I haven't seen anything capable of replacing 1ShoppingCart's affiliate program.

I'm sort of surprised that no one has written an integration module for 1ShoppingCart.

My hope is that someone will step forward. Right now, my Drupal site is using two other outside services. It's been a pain to integrate other people's work into Drupal. Sad Much better to have a totally integrated system.

Re: Hmmm

There is an Ubercart Affiliate module, but it is hosted at Drupal now, I guess because the project functionalities are better Sticking out tongue

http://drupal.org/project/uc_affiliate2

I was also thinking of this request more, and having a 3rd party affiliate tracking integrated has its merits.

Most inhouse affiliate programs are accused of shaving, where the owner of the program manipulats the commission received by affiliates. Even if it aint true, it is better to avoid such disputes...

The Ubercart affiliate module is somewhat new, and I have to admit I am holding off with the adoption as there are quite some issues that need to be ironed out for it to be in production

Re: Good question-answer

This sounds like a troll to me, nothing more than a shill for a commercial product.

1shoppingcart is a commercial cart. You can use it OR you can use the free, open-source Ubercart. I don't see how it makes sense to even talk about using both together.

Sounds like an impolite oaf to me

TR, I think I laid out my needs and opinions quite well, thank you very much. To be accused of being a troll simply because I fielded some questions and specifications is pretty silly, on your part.

As I pointed out, if these features are available within ubercart, then I'm more than interested in hearing how they can be done. I'd much rather have an open source solution to my problems than to pay a commercial service. 1ShoppingCart is expensive. I've seen many other integration modules that link ubercart to other credit card processing systems. I just haven't seen one for 1ShoppingCart.

However, no software package is perfect, and I tried to lay out precisely what my needs would be. You are being very flippant and impolite to accuse me of being a troll. I am not affiliated with any company whatsoever, and I resent your accusation.

Put your mind in gear before opening your mouth, please.

Yes, and there seems to be even lot more mailing&autoresponder -related modules for Drupal.

Experience with 1ShoppingCart

Now that I have used both systems 1ShoppingCart for 6 months and I am about to cancel it UbarCart has all the functionality that I need right now and it is being developed and expanded all the time. For me paying $140 per months just doesn't make sense ($100 for 1ShoppingCart and $40 for authorize.net)

One of the reasons I have signed up with 1ShoppingCart because they have claimed that they did re-occurring billing. Guess what after I set-up the system and all my clients and bills were due nothing was going through. It turns out they can't handle reoccurring/subscription billing with PayPal-they do not store cc info, so I had to open an account with autorize.net to get it done.

Also, they do not have a "Catalog Feature"-UberCart takes care of that for me, it is a big deal.

Also, all of the sales pages have to be stored on your server they do not host anything

"1) Affiliate program. 1ShoppingCart has a very easy but sophisticated way for affiliates to sign up. 1ShoppingCart will track affiliates and automatically pay them when affiliate fees are due."

Another big surprise here 1ShoppingCart doesn't pay your affiliates automatically, they claim they do but it is manual you have to do it, they only keep track of it for you

Also, if you want more then a 2 level affiliate program, they don't do it

Also, I received lots of complaints from user about the difficulty with navigation within the Affiliate system

So, that is my two cents I hope it helps you or someone else. I am in the process of implementing UberCart part of my system is live. The Affiliate program is next, I will keep you posted.

There is something to be said for one integrated system vs having different systems for different functionality to get them all work together for what you need.
