phone number not required

I'm getting folks not filling in their phone number when they buy.

I'd like to make that a required field, but don't see where to do that.

Can somebody point me to the right place?

We have the same need (should be the default per common business practice) to always get the customer's telephone number.

Here's where we set it:

/admin/store/settings/checkout/edit/fields

This is also where we changed "Phone number" to "Telephone", ,"Zone" to "State/Province" and "Postal code" to "Zip/Postal Code". We've used these terms for 10+ years in e-commerce and 25+ years on printed order forms, and they've been clear to our customers world-wide. (I've never heard the term Zone used for any address anywhere, curious about why that's the default term...) With international customers there's actually more confusion about First name and Last name, since some cultures use different terms, or take this literally as the order of the words rather than type of name -- especially fun with certain Asian customers...

Aye, zone isn't meant to be used by anyone in production... kind of expect folks to go and change them. I wouldn't be opposed to updating the defaults to what you've recommended here, though. Will bookmark it pending any further responses.

This is perfect, I as well was wondering what the heck a "zone" was and where I could change it. Thanks!
