Hi I am developing a site for a mate of mine who has a butchery I am wondering if there are an specific ways to change ubercart to handle a product that is sold by weight, So for instance if I want to by 2.5 kg of sausages the quantity field needs a little changing to accommodate . Is there anything already done to handle these kinds of products ??

As far as I know, this is not possible in Ubercart (except maybe by a lot of core hacking).
You might want to consider putting the weight possibilities as attributes. (order 5 steaks of 1 / 1,5 / 2 kilo's.)
