can ubercart do this?

I'm looking to do the following in the next phase of my site, and am wondering whether Ubercart will work for me:

- downloadable files
- split payments between file contributors (x%), and the site owner (y%)

If Ubercart is not the way to go, any pointers appreciated! Thanks.

For the first point, there is a file product contribution, I didn't test it but it seems to be good for you.

For the second point, I think you will need to develop your own module to do that, you will find here all help you need (but you need to know php and the bases of how drupal work). You can place a bounty too to have your feature.

This seems fairly strait forward. I think the file product module is a great place to start. I would then add a cck field for the file contributer, and then have a cron job to calculate and pay the appropriate commission.

Are there any production sites using the file product contrib? Also, for splitting the payments, is this something that can be done by the payment gateway/Paypal/etc?

I've been researching whether Paypal, Google Checkout, Amazon Flex Pay, et al offer split payments at their end, with no joy. Just have to decide whether I can live without this functionality, or whether I need to contribute towards the 'bounty' idea. (I'm not really feeling the batch-payments via cron concept, rather have the payments made at the time of sale, but it was a creative approach.)

Hey zmove, Do you have an idea as to how much I would need for the bounty offer? Thanks!

First, you should read this post: http://www.ubercart.org/forum/bounties/18/what_bounty
Then you need to come up with a clear list of features you want. Then just post saying what you want. People will ask a few clarifying questions and give you a price to do the work. If someone you like is willing to do it for a price you like, then your set. Smiling
