I get this message:

We were unable to process your credit card payment. Please verify your card details and try again. If the problem persists, contact us to complete your order.

I've seen related problems brought up in much older threads, like this one, though I haven't found a resolution.

I'm using Paypal Sandbox accounts and Paypal Web Payments Standard works OK. I've disabled the Shipping Quote block because all items have free shipping included. Using Test Credit Card number 4111111111111111 with CVV 123.

Once, I did get an Order Complete message in addition to the above error message. The payment did not go through to the Merchant account though.

Are you on the Sandbox? If so, they often have issues...

I just tried it with a Live account, but got the same message. Is there a way to debug the transaction (i.e., see the specific messages exchanged)?

The log shows

10548. This transaction cannot be processed. The merchant's account is not able to process transactions.

I've triple checked the API Credentials from Paypal though.

I tried different credit cards and definitely put in the right CVV.

I did stumble on this post

Right now, I have a Paypal Premier account that does have API credentials, but it seems a Business Account is required?

Same Problem

Hi,

I have the same problem.

I-m using the Credit Card payment using the PayPal Website Pro gateway. I'm not using the sandbox, i'm in live. So I have some doubts:

  • I need a SSL to allow the user to pay with their credit card but in my site.
  • Which fields has to be checked in the Credit Card Settings? I just have checked the CVV field.
