When I try to create a Product kit, the fields to enter the price, weight, and dimensions info is missing.

It makes sense to me that the latter 2 sets are missing (they can be inherited), but not the price information - since the purpose of creating a kit is often to give a discount over separate purchases.

If I try creating the product kit anyway, I get a "Commission must be greater than zero." error.

Bug? Do I have something misconfigured?

The price fields can be edited after you save the product kit. They aren't visible at first because Ubercart doesn't know yet how many price fields to give you. I don't know where that commission error is coming from, though.

unfortunately, it's giving me the error and not letting me create the kit.

I tried a clean install, which cleaned up several other issues, but this one's still not working.

Interestingly, since I added a sitewide base price, the error message I now get when trying to create a product kit has changed to:
"Sell price must be greater than or equal to sitewide base price of $XXX".

"Commission" ? "Sitewide base price" ? These are not part of Ubercart, but of the uc_marketplace contributed module. You should probably be asking your question on the Drupal forum for that module. It's entirely possible that module doesn't even support Product Kits, but regardless this doesn't seem to be an Ubercart problem.
