Hi UC Community,

First of alll, thanks for all your help, now and in the past. We love Ubercart, not least of which for the helpful and responsive community.

I've been struggling for awhile to get the best shipping quotes setup for our Ubercart store. We sell primarily books, but also various yoga props, from small to large and odd-shapes, all through USPS. The main issue I'm working on now is to have the checkout page give accurate shipping quotes when there are multiple products in an order.

There are multiple aspects of this I could ask about, but how about this as a starting place: in flat-rate envelope or box quotes, even simple combinations like having multiple of the same items together doesn't give the correct quote. No matter the quantity, it still shows the price for a single flat-rate envelope or box, as though they could all fit in one. I did specify in Quote settings to quote all in one package, but in other quotes (like Parcel Post and Express Mail) it adjusts the total when there are multiple objects. The product dimensions have been entered.

Any ideas?

Re: Flat rate multiple products not calculating correctly

The all-in-one setting means exactly that: you are getting a quote for everything in one box or envelope. Unfortunately, USPS doesn't put any additional weight limits on its envelope rates. The only other option is to turn off the all-in-one setting, and that means that different products are quoted in different boxes. You can specify that multiples of the same product can fit in one box with the package quantity, but it's very hard to know how to fit a bunch of different items into a box with just their dimensions.

My suggestion is to disable the all-in-one setting and to turn off the USPS Flat Rate methods. If you get an order for just one product, it should be close to that rate based on its weight.
