Hi all,
On Friday my client told me -- literally as the store went live -- that Oh Yeah, there was a 6% sales tax for her state, could I add that in? I almost had lasers shoot out of my eyes, but THANK YOU UBERCARTERS for making taxes so easy to set up! About 7 minutes later I was like, "Uh, yeah, of course I can do that. Sales tax, done!"

Now I am wondering where I can see sales tax reports? I don't see it in any of the standard store reports, but maybe I am missing something? I think I just need to be able to see, on a monthly (weekly, whatever) basis how much money to send off to the sales tax people.

Thanks!
Eileen

Re: Where are taxes reported?

Interesting... there isn't a report like that afaik, and no one's brought it up in the past. This data should be easily queried since taxes have their own line item type for display on orders. The data is stored in the table uc_order_line_items for now.

Re: Re: Where are taxes reported?

Good enough! Maybe I'll edit the current reports to give a tax-total as well.

Funny that it's never been brought up before -- I've never done much in retail, but doesn't the business owner have to send monthly (or quarterly or whatever) payments to the tax man? Hmm.

Re: Re: Re: Where are taxes reported?

It seems most of our clients use QuickBooks or a similar system to do all of the sales tax calculations and reports.

However the more ubercart can do, the less need there will be for QuickBooks to handle each order separately vs just importing daily or weekly sales income.

Yes, it seems to me to be very important functionality to have Ubercart report how much tax has been collected over specified periods, it would simplify your quarterly statements to the tax office very much so!

Should be fairly easy to implement it though.

i'm gonna do this

A customer of mine really wants this report so I'm going to go ahead and add it. Will post to contrib when finished.

I am also really in need of this reporting. In fact, I think it would be great to report all line items (including shipping).
If anyone could post something, that would be fantastic!

Looks like this is well on its way in development at http://drupal.org/node/359544#comment-1256822

Keep scrolling down, as there are a number of other comments and possibly another "release" of the module. I still haven't tested it, but it looks like the core of it is going to be implemented into UC2.x for D6.x
