Hi all,

I am going to use Drupal+Ubercart for my own online wholesale&dropshiop business, the main products on my store are electronic products.

Here just one question - should I use drupal 5 or drupal 6?

thanks in advance.

Re: Drupal 5 or drupal 6?

We have started using Drupal 6. Ubercart 2.x is not as stable yet, and we have found a few show stopping bugs, but there are other advantages in using d6 that make it worth it for us.

Committed to Drupal 6 and hoping for a time frame.

I'll be using Ubercart, & have committed to Drupal 6. Since I'm still in the learning phase of Drupal, I decided it made more sense to commit to the current version, even though a significant number of modules I'll want to use (like this one) are not yet compatible w/ 6. I'm hoping that while I'm in this learning phase the developers are at the same time in the updating phase, and we'll hopefully all meet by the time I'm up to speed.

Having said that, I'd still like an idea of what that time frame might be. On my end I'm trying as quick as possible.

Thanks for the great work.

Here's one

How about the issue where you can't add photos of products to Ubercart with D6?

(At least not using the built-in photo upload option that's available with D5.) I think this might be because a few of the supporting modules TAPIr(?) don't work with D6 yet, but haven't looked into it enough to confirm, and the response rates on this board are pretty slow.

Yes: There are workarounds. You can add photos of products to the descriptions using something else like IMCE. You can also add an imagefield with CCK and set up imagecache to build different sized images.) But this isn't exactly clear right out of the box, and it's not as straight-forward as it is in D5.

I wish someone had responded to earlier requests about this issue. It would have saved a lot of time.

Drupal 6 and Ubercart

Like previous contributors I am just getting going, have chosen Drupal 6 and now find I am stumped as I try to put it together with plug ins such as Ubercart, so my question is: is it too difficult/very time-consuming for a novice to start with Drupal 5 and then upgrade to Drupal 6 when the new Ubercart becomes available??
