We are having a small problem on a client's site, that was brought to our attention after the client recieved several phone calls.
When a user gets to the 'Review Order' page after entering their payment and shipping details, they occasionally click 'Back' to fix a typo or other error in their checkout information. In the meantime, the credit card number field is changed to '(Last Four) 1234' in order to protect the information.
The client's then proceed to resubmit the order, which of course fails.
The clients don't seem to recognize that they need to re-enter their card number in place of the '(Last four) 1234' text. Perhaps it would be better to blank the field when the user clicks 'back'.
The client has had customers on the phone who have tried resubmitting '(last four) 1234' as their credit card number a dozen times insisting it's correct the whole way...
