My client is complaining about 4+ dollar U.S.P.S. Priority Mail shipping charges for their gift certificates. Am I missing a setting that would classify this more accurately. I see a 'small package' option under Default product shipping type, is this what I need to use?

For gift certificates, you'd probably use First-Class mail. That's the option that starts at the $.42 for an ounce.

You will need to set up different product classes and asign shipping options based on product classes, haven't tested too much with this, would be interesting if a gift card and bigger item were purchased.

Ok, I just created a product class (using /admin/store/products/classes).

Now what? This class doesn't come up anywhere. I've looked through all of /admin/store/settings/quotes and I can't find any options for different product classes..

Ok,

I just discovered the horrifying fact that Ubercart Product Classes are not Ubercart Product Classes but rather Drupal Content Types!

Check /admin/content/types

This is very scary so far. There is NO WAY I am going to reconfigure my entire store to accommodate a new CONTENT TYPE. Ohhhh boy.... not good..............

EDIT:

Ok this is really freaking me out, completely over whelming me. What am I supposed to do now with a new CONTENT TYPE? How will these be placed in my Catalog? Do I have to somehow add code to make this new content work with Ubercart's system? This is retarded Sad

Freaking out and criticizing the free product is not the best way to garner support for your requests.

UC has Views integration which will pull all your product classes into the catalog.

Thanks for being patient with me Ryan, like always.

I will keep searching and reading and searching and reading until I can figure this out on my own.

Thanks
Mike

I'm pretty sure the first two paragraphs of Understanding Product Classes make this quite clear... don't freak out too much, though. Ubercart already adds these to product catalogs, and the Views integration has an "Is this a product?" filter that works for any product class node type. Also, there are several threads throughout the forums that deal with converting products to different node types if need be.

I also can't figure this out. I've been sifting through page after page on UC's Documentation section.

I still can't even figure out how to setup taxable or nontaxable products despite reading UC's "Creating Products" manual.

I don't understand why seemingly simple tasks are so dang confusing with UC. Don't get me wrong, UC works great once you figure things out, it has a LOT of flexibility, but it is the gap between not setup and setup that is H-U-G-E in my opinion.

I've already spent 15mins trying to figure out what you are trying to do here, It'll probably take me an hour or two before I figure it out. I'll report back once I figure it out.

I currently have UPS and USPS setup as quote options, exactly as the documentation states, but when you check out, only UPS is quoted. It makes NO SENSE AT ALL, very poorly documented in my opinion.

Solution: specify shipping methods/services per product

To answer smithaa02's original question, I have created an Ubercart Product Quote module at http://drupal.org/project/uc_product_quote that allows you to specify shipping methods/services on a per product basis. It is mostly finished and needs testing.

Cheers,
