Correction and question. Correction first.

The last six zones listed in france_250_1.cif should not be there - they each have their own ISO 3166 country code, and should be considered as separate countries with their own .cif files:

New Caledonia
French Polynesia
Saint-Pierre and Miquelon
French Southern Territories
Mayotte
Wallis and Futuna

Now the question. When I look at the osCommerce zone files there are only 22 zones for France. In the Ubercart france_250_1.cif there are 102 zones. Comparing the two, NONE of the zones in osCommerce appear in the Ubercart list, and vice versa! (I know osCommerce is not entirely correct, because they have Anglicized the zone names and use only ASCII characters.)

So my question is, (hopefully someone from France can answer this!) which set of zones is correct when mailing packages to France?

From my own experience, I have many customers in France, and when they specify a zone it is always one of the ones in the osCommerce list. But most of the time my customers in France do not enter a zone at all - are zones even needed or required when mailing to France?

Looking at http://www.postoo.com/accueil.html I found the following list of 21 zones for France. This mostly agrees with the osCommerce list:

Alsace
Aquitaine
Auvergne
Basse-Normandie
Bourgogne
Bretagne
Centre
Champagne-Ardenn
Corse
Franche-Comté
Haute-Normandie
Ile-de-France
Languedoc-Roussillon
Limousin
Lorraine
Midi-Pyrénées
Nord-Pas-de-Calais
Pays de la Loire
Picardie
Poitou-Charentes
Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur
Rhône-Alpes

Each of these zones has some "sub-zones", and the list of "sub-zones" mostly agrees with the Ubercart list. So I see where the two lists come from, what I don't know is which is the proper one to use. Or whether any zones at all should be specified for France.

Hi, The France case is

Hi,

The France case is pretty complex, as I made the first .cif file for France, I will explain my choices.

The 21 zones you talk about regroup several department. So there are 21 zones, and more than 100 department.

To provide more accurate selection for store owner (who eventually want to define different shipping price for the different department, not only zone), I directly put the department as zone, because ubercart don't provide the fact to have zone and sub-zones, so I directly put sub-zones.

For the list here after :

New Caledonia
French Polynesia
Saint-Pierre and Miquelon
French Southern Territories
Mayotte
Wallis and Futuna

It's what we name DOM-TOM in france, This is kind of departement that belong to France territory, but there are far from france so they often are treated separately, but it's more like a department of france than a separated country, that's why I added them to the zone list.
