Ubercart

I'm actually trying to get a spot to do a session on ubercart at the upcoming drupal camp in LA. I was thinking about an intro into the capabilities that ubercart currently supports and then going over some of the hooks for module developers to see what could easily be possible with the already existing code. If there are specifics that you would like me to cover let me know, I'll be presenting on Sept 8th if its accepted.

Excellent! I'll give my presentation some thought over the weekend/this next week and post up some initial thoughts here. It's mostly going to be what you listed... trying to get the word out to other developers what they can actually do w/ Ubercart while trying to bring in more developers to look for bugs/work on the code. I'll probably try to do a "core system" explanation that lists hooks for each system like checkout, orders, payment, products, etc. and highlights one or two to show examples of how the API can be leveraged. I hope to have some good brainstorming sessions on how to improve the API as well!

Will get back to you, and maybe your presentation can help mine in Barcelona.

I did the presentation this past weekend and I think it went quite well, I had a lot of great feedback and the crowd seemed quite pleased with what UberCart has to offer for Drupal users. I posted up my presentation notes on my blog (http://boldsource.com/drupal-ubercamp-presentation-follow-drupalcampla) and there should be a video cast coming soon (not sure when that will be posted).

Anyways, I found that most people just wanted to be introduced to what features were available and what types of things they could expect to see when working with the modules. I did a run through of many of the screens (product editing, attribute adding, order administration, etc). This was essential for those unfamiliar with the module.

Wish I could make it out to Spain this year to actually meet up and talk with you guys but school starts taht weekend. Hope everyone who goes has a great time!

Thanks a lot for the info, Blake. Glad to hear it went well, and I'll keep that in mind in my sessions. I've heard there will be a nice technology setup in the rooms, which is good since I don't have a laptop and will be hard pressed to get a company one ready to go in time.

Maybe we'll see you when we can get big enough to have an Ubercon.
