Books For The Future

Books For The Future logo

Books For The Future collects used books and sells them online. For every book sold they plant a tree. The site will soon have 30,000 products. Products are entered by scanning or entering an ISBN barcode. If a number in not available a title/author search is used. It searches Amazon for related titles. A title/ASIN is chosen, condition category and notes, and locator code are entered. The site automatically pulls information from amazon to set the price, author, description, dimensions, weight, and other related product fields. SKU's are auto incremented for the most part. Images are downloaded from Amazon and inserted into the image field. Products are then automatically uploaded to Amazon, ABE books, Alibris, eBay, and Half. When an order is placed on another market the website downloads the order and creates a local ubercart order. Inventory quantities are updated across all the markets. We still have a ton of work to do, but the site is "live".
We use Views Fast Search on the main page and elsewhere http://drupal.org/project/views_fastsearch
With 50-100 orders per day we needed a printable list of products to pull. We added a Views filter for order status to help create the table and use a simple print.css file for formating.
I'll have information available on the integration modules in the next month or so.

Re: Books For The Future

Cool idea, site, and Amazon integration. Thanks for posting... gonna search it for some treasure later. Eye-wink

Thumbs up!

Nice design, great integration, beautiful idea. Too bad you don't send South of the border.

Warm regards from sunny México!

very nice site. i'm looking

very nice site.

i'm looking to set up a site for a small local bookstore, and i'm really impressed with how you have things set up.

fyi: even though it's crossed out, you might want to take a look at the "List Price" field. It seems that you've got a misplaced decimal in there somewhere. i'm assuming that the list price for dan brown's angels & demons isn't $799.00 Smiling
