Sharp looking site w/ some cool hoodies. Hope it does well!
Cheers ryan. I spent a lot of time deciding what system to use and the combination of drupal and ubercart is awesome. So much flexibility and really powerful.
A basic mod of garland for the theme and lots of time spent of photographs and we're all finished.
They had their first sale within a week
Thanks for all your hard work,
matt
Thanks, yeah it took a while to get to grips with drupal and ubercart but i'm stoked with the final result.
The owners love it. They love how easy it is to edit stuff and I ran them thru adding taxonomy terms and some new products the other day. It's all going well.
We're just trying to come up with some good ways to promote the site. Does anyone have any handy links about good ways to do that?
I was hoping to be able to integrate ubercart with froogle but it doesn't seem too easy.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the site better? I think the home page could use a lot of work but i'm happy with most other things.
Cheers,
matt
Matt, maybe as an additional idea. Business of the site could benefit by touching some important buttons a little.
In addition of that, maybe you could fine tune the settings a little and get rid of the product(s) list in "cart/checkout" (in my opinion it's unnecessary there, as it already is in "cart" page)
The site seems to be targeting younger people... so, some more action could make more sales... maybe a video, or replacing the slide show with a video with some music.
One more thing... the site will make more sales, it you in the checkout page and onwards just get rid of all unnecessary side blocks and links... you just want your clients to finish their order, with nothing unnecessary "noise" around, right?
Hope this helps, all the best from Sunny Spain
Thanks Abilnet for taking the time to give me some feedback. It's so easy to get bogged down with the code and getting it all working. I find it very difficult at this stage in a project to just look at it with fresh eyes and so your comments are very much appreciated.
The site owners know they want the home page more..... something, but they can't articulate what that something is.
I've been steering away from flash for the last fews years but I think you're right that a nice little eye catching demo of some of their clothes might be just whats needed.
The current home page is quite bland, but very functional.
I love the idea about sprucing up the buttons, thanks for the link. And removing extraneous info and links from checkout is very good idea.
I'm primarily a graphic designer but i often find that the project budget doesn't stretch to a full on theme. Well, it maybe would have done if I hadn't spent so much time cutting out photos on hoodies and adjusting colours and so on
I'd really love to not be using garland but it's just so nice. I'm sure i'll get shot down for saying it but whoever designed it did a great job. I changed the base image and css a little to allow it to render that header image with all the colours blended in.
Is there anything graphical that I could help out with in ubercart in general? Maybe some logos? Icons? I'd be happy to help.
Anyhoo, thanks for the feedback.

I've added the orange buttons in to tempt people into clicking them. Looks great, took about 10 minutes, highly reccomended: http://www.ubercart.org/contrib/3964
Did anyone check out this page: http://morphiccreations.com/drupal/colours-and-graphics/aotea-roa
Took me freakin ages to figure out how to get it all working. I know there must be a clever way to do it all with base images and image cache but i ended up just making all the individual graphics using photoshop actions. Then there's a couple of loops in the php to place all the images and link them to thickbox.
Laters,
matt
Thanks Matt if you found my comments useful, also the buttons are looking great now!
hehe Just checked out the page. Glad you got it figured out.
To publicize the site... I'm not really sure. It can't hurt to post up a listing at Drupal.org in the site showcase if you haven't already done so.
I like the colors and the look overall.
Garland fits well!
Yeah i really like using garland, it's nice to change the colors with the seasons.
We've just done a new theme to go with a bit of rebranding, i've modified garland again and will update the live site soon.
I've learnt quite a bit about modding garland. It's very very clever how it overlays an image above gradients and then slices it up. It's great that you don't have to slice up the graphics manually.
